The Theme of the 2023 Competition: Building an Inclusive and Sustainable Tech Town
In recent years, countries around the world have been working towards the United Nations SDG 11, which aims to provide inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities for all by 2030.
In our everyday lives, our food, clothing, shelter, transportation, and recreation are all connected to public spaces. These spaces provide us with opportunities to learn, relax, exercise, socialize, and connect with others. They also often have an ecological or environmental function and are an essential part of our lives.
For example, many public spaces have accessible facilities, inclusive designs, multilingual signs, and amenities that can be used by people of all ages and genders. They also consider the impact of human activities on other living beings and the environment, aiming to minimize the harm caused by humans. This is evident in the establishment of riverside parks, the creation of more green spaces, and efforts to reduce air pollution and waste. These are all examples of inclusivity and align with SDG 11, which aims to provide comfortable and barrier-free spaces for all, regardless of age, gender, language, or species.
We invite you to use your creativity to help build an inclusive and sustainable tech town. Consider the amenities and environmental features that this tech town could incorporate to make it a pleasant and comfortable place for people of all backgrounds to live, work, and play.
